I have been a fan of MMA for quite sometime now and for the first time I am posting something about the sport. UFC is a sport where fighters really show how good they are. It looks like a street fight with rules to obey but still a mixed fighter can come out victorious unpredictably.
For the main topic, UFC 98 has just been aired and what a spectacular event it really was. The main event portion was a battle between two undefeated octagon fighters “Sugar” Rashad Evans (18-0-1) versus Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida (14-0). This bout is also for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title.
Manny Pacquiao again shows his power by beating Ricky Hatton by TKO in the last seconds of the 2nd round. He received a left hook to the jaw which ended the fight In the 1st round Manny Pacquiao’s right hand dominated Hatton and he took him down two times. It was just like Hatton was brawling a lot with lots of clinches. He was strong at first going after Manny Pacquiao but was not fast enough.
Just one more night and the battle begins, for one of the awaited boxing match in the year. Manny “The Pacman” Pacquaio versus Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton. This fight looks like both Manny and Ricky are very prepared and neither would want to go down. They have trained very hard for months and now its almost time to show who had their trainings worth. Will it be really as the poster says 50/50 chance per fighter, we will just have to watch to see what really happens. Both the IBO and The Ring Light Welterweight Championship belts are on the line in this match.
MEXICO CITY (AFP) – – Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao has gven up his World Boxing Council lightweight world title.
Pacquiao, who is considered boxing’s top pound-for-pound fighter, cited his desire to compete in the super lightweight division as his reason for vacating his crown. Pacquiao is getting ready to face Britain’s Ricky Hatton on May 2 in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao (48-3-2, 26 KOs) firmly entrenched himself as a superstar and perhaps the sport’s best pound-for-pound fighter in December when he dominated Oscar De La Hoya with speed and accuracy from beginning to end, scoring an eighth-round technical knockout victory.
Beating De La Hoya was just one of a host of accomplishments in 2008 for Pacquiao, who also defeated Juan Manuel Marquez to win the WBC super featherweight title in March, then took down David Diaz to claim the WBC lightweight title in June.
