I was a fan of the E-heads (short for Eraserheads) before they got disbanded. They had lots of albums out in the whole country. They were once called “The Beatles of the Philippines”. The band is one of the most successful, critically-acclaimed, and significant bands in the history of Original Pinoy Music (OPM). They changed the sound of Pinoy Rock. Some songs from the band were, Fruitcake, Ang Huling El Bimbo, Magasin, Embreak Alapaap, Toyang. They even had a Tribute Album named “Ultraelectromagneticjam!: The Music Of The Eraserheads” which was performed by other Philippine Local Bands.
But after years after the break-up of the band, they had their reunion concert held at Fort Bonifacio, Global City this August 30, 2008 and was sponsored by a tobacco company Philip Morris.
The band members are:
Ely Beundia – Guitars, Vocals
Raimund Marasigan – Drums, Back-up Vocals
Buddy Zabala – Bass, Back-up Vocals
Marcus Adoro – Lead Guitar, Back-up Vocals
After set one of the concert the lead vocalist Ely Buendia, had to be rushed to the hospital due to unknown reasons but some say that he had a heart attack after the first set of the show had ended. And so the second set of the show had to be halted.
Due to the unfinised concert from the band, there had to be a second part of the reunion concert, where on the band went onstage for their second reunion concert dubbed as The Final Set on March 7, 2009 at the SM Mall of Asia, Concert Grounds, Pasay City. The concert went ahead despite the recent passing of their guest performer Francis Magalona who died of acute myelogenous leukemia which I have posted before here.
